Instructions

Simple steps

  1. Remove the PURUS and rinse under warm water for 90 seconds while gently rolling it in your fingers… Gently Roll. This helps activate the PURUS for optimal performance. Shake out excess water.
  2. Select your bottle of liquor or wine. If this an unused bottle, pour a little out (roughly 2 oz) to accommodate the PURUS and reserve for either a taste comparison later or add back in the bottle when room allows.
  3. Insert the PURUS into the bottle, smile side first, reseal and let it stand, 48 Hours for spirits (alcohol) or 4-6 hrs. for wine. To cut the time in half insert another PURUS. For those that are extra sulfite sensitive, leave PURUS in wine for 12 hours for best results.
  4. Remove the filter by pulling the string. Tie a knot in the string to record the number of times it has been used.
  5. Enjoy a better tasting, healthier beverage! Please drink responsibly & stay hydrated.

Additional information

While In Use… Tie a knot in the ribbon as a reminder as to the # of bottles this filter has been used in. You may leave the PURUS in your bottle of spirits until empty or remove after 4 days to be certain the filter has completed its work. At the PURUS lab we noticed that some alcohols will start to loose their chemical flavor and color agents after prolonged contact (month or longer). You may remove the PURUS after a week when all impurities are gone. When reusing, it is preferred to use the same type of liquor or wine as previously used. You can transfer it from bottle to bottle without rinsing. If you are changing alcohols, rinsing in warm water first is recommended for best results.

Wine Drinkers… When the bottle is empty either place the PURUS directly into another bottle of wine OR leave the PURUS in the bottle and fill with water and recork. (This allows the grape tannins to be rinsed out.) Let it stand over night then remove.

When The Bottle Is Empty… If the PURUS is not going to be used immediately rinse thoroughly in warm water and let air dry. For high sugar content liquors or red wines it is best to place the rinsed PURUS back into the bottle and fill with water and recork. Let it stand over night then remove and rinse the PURUS thoroughly in warm water again, shake out excess water and let air dry.

Time to retire… Once you have used the PURUS up to 4 big 1.75 L bottles, 6 small 750 ml bottles of liquor or 12 bottles of wine the PURUS is now full and can be disposed of.

Water… PURUS removes chlorine, and other chemicals found in standard tap water. Rinse out the PURUS filter just like for alcohol and wine. Then place it in a pitcher, coffee pot reservoir or any water you want to be purified. 4-6 hours of minimum contact time or longer for better results. PURUS is good for 90 days of continuous use in water.

Warning… When removing the PURUS from a bottle after use, PLEASE refrain from trying to suck the last morsel of liquor from the PURUS … This will most certainly leave a bitter taste in your mouth! Remember PURUS is removing impurities.  ( Yes someone actually did this and now we are telling you not to.)
